Nshokano Katabana is a multilingual senior business executive, technology leader and investor with many years of experience building, leading and growing Technology & Engineering organizations on a global enterprise scale.
Katabana credits his success to his immigrant family, who moved to the United States in search for better life. And as he tells it himself, nowhere else but only in America would you find a story like his.
Katabana grew up in the Seattle area and from an early age, he developed a passion for technology and service to community. For the past 20 years, Katabana has played a major role as a senior executive within global multi-billion dollar organizations, leading technology business transformations, organizational turn-arounds and the development and implementation of cutting-edge technologies.
As an entrepreneur Katabana has created jobs in the United States and overseas through building and growing companies from start-ups with zero dollar in revenue into multi-million dollar revenue generating organizations with employees across a number of continents.
In January 2012, Katabana founded and became Chief Executive Officer of FWG Solutions with the goal of building the firm as the go-to small business technology provider and systems integrator for the U.S Federal Government. Since then, as CEO, Katabana has grown FWG Solutions into an award-winning government contracting firm that continues to provide technology solutions and other services in support of the U.S. National Defense and our nation’s Warfighters here at home and globally.
As a prime contractor to the U.S federal government, FWG Solutions has won a number of large multi-billion dollar strategic defense and federal civilian programs to support defense and federal civilian clients in the areas of: Cybersecurity and Information Technology; Intelligence Support Services; Advanced Engineering; and Enterprise Software Development. Under the leadership of Katabana, FWG Solutions has been recognized by a number of organizations and has received a number of awards to include the United States Department of Defense (DoD) prestigious Nunn-Perry Award.
Prior to his role as CEO of FWG Solutions, Katabana was among several senior executive leaders recruited and hired by Fannie Mae to turn around the company after the financial crisis of 2008. In that leadership role, Katabana was Senior Director, leading a robust organization and its multi-million dollar budget, with responsibility for the multi-family technology portfolio and the implementation of business and technology initiatives to ensure a safe and sustainable mortgage financial industry.
As a successful entrepreneur, Katabana previously built, grew and exited a number of firms including an engineering consulting firm that supported commercial telecommunication clients in the areas of wireless spectrum management, broadband solution deployment and PMO build out.
Among some of his many achievements, Katabana led his consulting firm to support Advance Wireless Services (AWS) Spectrum management clearing, and negotiations with federal government agencies on behalf of his client T-Mobile for the early release of $4.2Billion AWS Spectrum and the successful deployment of WCDMA/UMTS (3G) within the US. Additionally, through his consulting firm, Katabana successfully supported the engineering development and deployment of 4G (WiMAX) technology within the US for his client Sprint.
Earlier in his career, Katabana worked in various engineering and business management roles for very large multi-national technology companies.
Katabana believes in paying it forward and as such, he is passionate about certain causes including: poverty reduction through education. He has led efforts within his own company (FWG Solutions) to support a number of initiatives that gives back to the community. Such efforts include partnering with a Washington, DC based non-profit organization (H.O.P.E Project) to provide technical training for under-served young adult residents of Washington, DC and then hiring those individuals for entry level technology roles at his firm FWG Solutions. Mr. Katabana is very much proud of the positive impact that this initiative has had in the lives of the many individuals who have participated in the program and the lives of their families.
A number of participants of the program have since successfully taken on other positions with global multi-national corporations after having successfully exited the program and worked at FWG for a number of years.
Katabana is a proud graduate of the University of Maryland College Park, where he received an Electrical Engineering and Physics degree. He is proud to have attended the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama where he was recognized as a participant of the 64th National Security Forum.
