Michelle A. Nicholas

Executive Director
Girls Inc. of Westchester County

A dedicated advocate for women and children, Michelle A. Nicholas has focused much of her career on helping others.

Michelle is the Executive Director of Girls Inc. of Westchester County, a mission-driven organization focused on inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Girls Inc. teaches healthy living, so girls can make healthy decisions, resist peer pressure, avoid risky behaviors, and take charge of their health. A daily devotion for Nicholas, who believes in rolling up her sleeves and creating fundamentally strong foundations that can persist in the organization’s mission for all girls well into the future.

An award-winning executive, Nicholas is also the Founder and CEO of The Nico Consulting, Inc. (TNC), a boutique consulting firm specializing in strategy operations, marketing and communications, personal branding and leadership development. TNC provides coaching and leadership development for clients including governments, corporations, nonprofits, and leaders of those respective organizations. In the process of her work, she helps and teaches leaders to rigorously examine and implement effective and efficient systems for using resources, personnel and the work process. Michelle is not interested in ‘good enough’ – something that might hold up or might not. She believes in creating sustainable partnerships, whatever it might be, to develop solid foundations for organizations and communities.

Passionate about service above self, Nicholas founded Sexual Assault and Family Education (S.A.F.E.) Guyana, Inc., an organization that provides support for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, and those struggling with mental health and other social issues in Guyana and the U.S.

Michelle also works to advance the wellbeing of women. Most recently she co-created a new award to honor 25 Influential Women Leaders annually in Guyana, who have made an impact in their companies and communities. The award is designed to recognize women from a variety of sectors, rather than in a single industry, making the award unique and important milestone for national and regional women leaders.

Recognized as one of the Business Council of Westchester’s Rising Stars and The Network Journal’s “40 Under-Forty”, Michelle continues to bridge the gap between available resources and those who need them. She was also recognized the Humanitarian Award by the Women of Mission International organization for her work with Guyana’s vulnerable population.

She has chaired and serves on several boards including MATPAL Maritime Institute, Westchester Suicide Prevention & Awareness Task Force, Association of Development Officers and Rotary Club of Wall Street. She is also a graduate of the University of Guyana, Volunteer NewYork’s Leadership Westchester, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)’s Citizens’ Academy and Mount Vernon Citizens’ Police Academy.

Nicholas is grateful for all that she has been able to achieve. She lives in Westchester County with her family.
