Uwem Ukpong is Vice President of Global Services at Uwem Ukpong Amazon Web Services (AWS).
In this role, he leads Vice President, AWS Global Servicesglobal expansion and customer transformation with a team of experienced cloud experts from across AWS—including training, professional services in commercial and public sectors, customer support and managed services, and security. Reporting directly to AWS CEO, Matt Garman, Uwem’s scope includes overseeing AWS’ investment strategy in emerging markets as well as AWS Sovereign Cloud and Compliance.
Leading with an integrated, pan-Global Services approach, Uwem and team—in collaboration with our network of cloud-certified AWS Partners—enable customers to rapidly scale their transformation journey from consultation on initial solution design, to building applications, to ongoing optimization and support. Under Uwem’s leadership, Global Services also helps customers and partners take full advantage of generative AI while leveraging best-in-class technology and strategies across their business.
His team is responsible for AWS’ Generative AI Innovation Center—a $100 million investment that connects customers and partners with AWS machine learning and AI experts around the world, who work step-by-step to ideate, identify, and implement secure generative AI solutions that transform business.
Uwem brings nearly 30 years of deep industry experience across technology, operations, energy, and software domains. He previously served as EVP Regions Alliances and Enterprise Sales for Baker Hughes, where he led global oil and gas operations and also held positions as Chief Global Operations Officer and VP of Integration. Prior to Baker Hughes, Uwem served as President of Schlumberger Software, where he was responsible for strategic development and commercialization of industry software and services for reservoir characterization, production optimization, and drilling.
