Bergen Dermatology; A-FRAME

Dr. Naana Boakye (pronounced Bo-wa-chie) is a board-certified dermatologist who prioritizes patient-first care. Based in Hackensack, NJ, her practice, Bergen Dermatology, offers comprehensive skin care with a special focus on acne and concerns specific to melanated skin.

While dermatology remains the core of her practice, Dr. Boakye advocates for a holistic approach to skin health, incorporating lifestyle and overall wellness into her treatment plans. Her “lifestyle dermatology” viewpoint integrates diet, physical activity, stress management, and emotional well-being to enhance skin health and overall appearance.

Dr. Boakye developed her signature Skincare Bootcamp and Acne Journey Programs to provide intensive, customized skincare solutions. These programs offer personalized professional advice and document treatment progress with photos, showcasing Bergen Dermatology’s impressive results. Her practice encompasses both medical and cosmetic dermatology, offering in-person and virtual consultations (available in 10 states) to optimize skin health and appearance.

She is the author of “Inside Out Beauty: Your Prescription for Healthy, Radiant, Acne-Controlled Skin,” available on Amazon. Dr. Boakye is also the co-founder of Karité Skincare and serves as the Chief Medical Officer for A-Frame, a brand-building company specializing in celebrity-led skincare lines for melanated skin. She has consulted for celebrities such as Naomi Osaka (KINLÒ), Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade (PROUDLY), and John Legend (LOVED01).

Dr. Boakye has recently launched her own skincare line, which prioritizes skin health through products that embody her core values: Biology, Beauty, and Benevolence. These products are meticulously formulated with scientifically backed ingredients to maintain the skin barrier’s pH, reduce transepidermal water loss, and ensure optimal hydration. They feature actives that promote skin health and address hyperpigmentation, incorporating cocoa and shea butter sourced from her native Ghana.

Dr. Boakye holds a Medical Degree from Temple University and a Master of Public Health degree in Epidemiology from George Washington University. She is affiliated with professional societies including the American Academy of Dermatology, the National Medical Association, and the Skin of Color Society.
