Harold E. Butler, Jr. is the Head of Citi Ascent Capital and a leader in Citi’s Markets,
Spread Products business.

Citi Ascent Capital is a firm-wide initiative connecting Capital Markets, Banking, Wealth,
and Services to community banks and small to mid-sized financial institutions. In this
role, Harold delivers a comprehensive suite of capabilities, including treasury
management, financing, structured products, wealth services, and investment banking.
He also oversees relationships with various small and mid-sized Broker Dealers and Asset
Managers.

Harold advises C-Suite leaders on risk management, strategic planning, and provides
executive coaching. Significantly, he represents and advises the U.S. Department of
Treasury and the Federal Reserve Bank System on commercial banking initiatives and
community-based bank engagement.

With over 35 years of experience, Harold joined Citi in 2006. His background includes
service in the U.S. Army (XVIII Airborne Corps, 1st Corps Support Command at Fort Bragg,
and NATO in Mons, Belgium), a decade leading business development at Microsoft, and
eight years as the lead technologist for the Securities, Sales and Trading Group at Freddie
Mac. He is a former chair of the National Bankers Association and contributes to various
Citi steering and leadership committees focused on global inclusion, diversity, and talent
management, and is a senior sponsor for Markets’ talent recruitment, retention, and
enrichment.

Harold holds a B.A. from the University of Maryland.
