Alice Agyemang-Badu

Corporate Vice President, Recruiting & Retention
New York Life

Alice Agyemang-Badu is transforming the lives of others. She found her calling at 12, when she became an ambassador for girls’ education in her native Ghana. Today she strives to better the career and livelihood of more than 3,500 financial professionals and 180 managers at New York Life, by leading recruiting and retention in nine states. Alice holds the distinguished honor of being the company’s first Black female Zone Corporate Vice President. “The impact I make in this role extends beyond the managers and agents I work with,” she shared enthusiastically. “It ultimately helps improve the lives of the agents the NE Zone managers hire, as well as the clients those agents ultimately serve.”

The ability to make a difference inspired Alice to become a financial professional in 2010. She was 23 and had only been in the U.S. for six months. But Alice’s commitment to helping entrepreneurs mitigate risk and plan for the unexpected was personal. Back home, her parents once owned a restaurant. The family’s banku recipe was a local favorite for nearly two decades. But competition forced a closure when Alice was a teenager. The community came together to cover her education expenses.

Empathetic to their situations, Alice helped nearly 200 businesses and families address their financial needs during her first year as a financial professional. Eager to assist clients with more aspects of their financial lives, she earned the CFP®, ChFC® and CLU® designations, as well as an appointment as an Eagle Strategies Financial Advisor within three years. A more holistic practice fueled her performance. And Alice was promoted to Senior Development Manager in 2015 in the Manhattan General Office. For two years she helped coach many agents to higher levels of success.

She was promoted to Partner in 2017, and in 2018 was named # 1 Female Partner in the company, with the most appointments. In 2019, she was promoted to Senior
Partner and was among the first females to hold this position in the Manhattan General Office. Alice earned the Val Ivanov Award the same year, helping the office win the Chairman’s trophy. This prestigious management accolade recognizes excellence in new org agent production, recruiting, and retention. Nearly 150 Senior, Executive, and Managing Partners compete for the honor.

Always giving back to the community, Alice is a member of the disciplinary and ethics commission for the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. She is the president of Friends of Nanuet Library, which advocates for literacy. Alice’s community impact and professional accomplishments earned her The Network Journal’s 40 Under-Forty Achievement Award in 2019.

She is married to Gilbert Agyemang-Badu, who is also a financial services professional.
