J.D. Myers, II is the Senior Vice President & East Region Manager for Cox Communications, leading 3,700 employees and has oversight of operations and business growth for Cox service areas across nine markets including Virginia, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Ohio, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.

Myers, the son of a military veteran, learned the value of respect, loyalty, and hard work at an early age, which influenced his decision to later serve his country by joining the United States Army. With a professional career spanning more than 40 years, his core principles are deeply rooted in his military experience.

Active in his community and the industry, Myers sits on a myriad of boards including Virginia Business Council, Virginia Chamber of Commerce, and Virginia Cable Telecommunications Association where he uses his knowledge and influence to ensure Virginia remains a worldwide leader in business and innovative technology. A champion of inclusion, diversity and equity, Myers has been active in both National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC) chapters in Virginia and the mid-Atlantic supporting communication and educational professionals.

His three adult daughters inspire his commitment to nurturing tomorrow’s business leaders as they are all successful in business in their own lives. He has been involved with the Hampton Roads Chamber’s tHRive group, helping young professionals through real-world career advice. As the creator and executive sponsor of Cox’s first Millennial Council, he is ensuring the next generation of leaders have the necessary experience to successfully drive Virginia’s future forward.

Myers is consistently recognized for his contributions to the business community in Hampton Roads and Virginia, including Virginia Business Magazine’s Virginia 500 List in 2023, 2020, 2021 and 2022, a 2024 recipient of the Virginia Black Business Leaders Award for Virginia Business Magazine, as well as Inside Business Magazine’s Power List in 2020, 2021 and 2022. In 2020, Myers was lauded by Virginia Business Magazine as one of the Top 100 people to meet in Virginia. He is among CableFAX’s Most Influential Minorities in Cable for the past ten years.

Myers holds an MBA in Business Administration and an MBA in Finance and Marketing from American University, as well as a Bachelor of Science, Business Administration from American University, and an Associate of Arts, Electrical Engineering Technology from Regis University. Additionally, he is a Yale School of Management graduate, certified in Fostering Inclusion and Diversity.

He currently resides in Virginia Beach with his wife, Gillian, and his German Shepherd, Mamba.
