Richard Aby is the Managing Director at Citi, where he leads the fully integrated Markets business strategy across Latin America. In this role, he oversees client management and origination strategies, supports the distribution of LatAm-originated products to global investors, and ensures comprehensive control over emerging risks in the region. He works closely with local leadership teams, global products, BCMA, and ICRM while managing senior-level regulatory relationships throughout Latin America.
With 23 years of banking experience, Richard has held various leadership roles, including Head of Markets for Central Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (CEEMEA). Joining Citi in 2008, he established Africa’s onshore Institutional Sales business as a leading franchise, before becoming CEEMEA Head of Investor Sales in 2016 and Head of Markets in 2020. Prior to his time at Citi, Richard spent seven years at Goldman Sachs in Equity Research, Debt Capital Markets, and Structured Finance across Western Europe.
Richard holds a CFA designation and earned his Master’s in Management from EDHEC Business School in France.
