Christopher Rice has over 25 years of experience in global tax and finance, with deep expertise spanning risk management, governance, and value creation. As Executive Vice President – Taxation & Corporate Structure at Shell, he is responsible for overseeing all tax and corporate structuring matters worldwide. In this role, he and his global team partner closely with Shell’s businesses to manage the full spectrum of tax activities, including policy and advocacy, advisory and structuring, filings and reporting, and dispute resolution.

Throughout his career at Shell, Christopher has advised a broad range of businesses, including Marketing, Manufacturing, Oil and Gas, Renewable Energy, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Trading, working across diverse geographies and regulatory environments. He holds a background in Economics, Accounting, and Law.
Christopher is an active leader in global business and governance. He serves as a Board Member and lead company representative for the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), a global organization committed to promoting transparency and accountability in the management of oil, gas, and mineral resources. In this capacity, he leads over 40 company representatives and contributes to strengthening governance frameworks, enhancing corporate accountability, and informing policymaking through multi-stakeholder engagement.
He also serves on the Board of the National Urban League (NUL). Previously, he was a Board and Executive Committee Member of the Global Business Alliance, where he led the Board’s strategic vision and outlook. In addition, he has served as a Trustee of the Shell Pension Plan and Shell Provident Fund, including as a member of the Investment Committee. He has also served on numerous other Non-profit boards.
Christopher is the co-founder and a key leader of Black Leaders in Tax (BLIT), a networking organization dedicated to advancing career development, professional growth, and mentorship across the tax and finance community, with a focus on strengthening the talent pipeline.
He is also the co-founder of the Reaching Individuals and Communities Everywhere (R.I.C.E.) Foundation, which supports children in at-risk communities through initiatives such as college scholarships, early intervention for dyslexia, and resources for teachers in Title I schools. To date, the foundation has contributed over $150,000 to the communities it serves.
Christopher is married to his wife, Ericka, and they have two daughters, Kristen and Erin. Kristen is pursuing a double major in Finance and Marketing at Hampton University, and Erin is preparing to begin her university studies following her senior year at St. Agnes Academy.
Together, Christopher and Ericka have also built a successful real estate investment business focused on providing high-quality housing solutions within their community.
Outside of his professional and philanthropic commitments, Christopher enjoys traveling, reading, running, volunteering in his community and church, and spending time with family and friends. He is a member of the Omega Psi Phi and Sigma Pi Phi fraternities.
